RFID inventory for jewelry stores
Pass the reader in front of the closed display case: every piece answers. Nothing to take out, nothing to scan one by one, and the gaps show up on their own.
- 100 pieces
- read per second
- 1.5 m
- reading range
- Closed case
- drawer, jewelry box, open safe

Why a jewelry store inventory takes so long
By hand, every piece comes out of the case, gets turned over so its label can be read, then ticked off a list. A barcode scanner is faster, but it is still one piece at a time, face to face.
So the inventory is done rarely, often with the store closed or in the evening. And when a gap finally shows up, months have gone by: nobody knows where it came from any more.
How does RFID inventory work?
Three steps. The only new thing for you is a smart label on every piece.
A smart label on every piece
It looks like the label you already use: price, weight, barcode. The difference is inside, a very thin chip and antenna carrying a unique identifier. It prints from the app.
The reader asks, the labels answer
The reader sends out a radio wave. Every label in range answers with its identifier, all at once, without contact and without needing to be seen. That is why it reads through a closed display case.
The app shows you the gaps
The readings are compared with the store's stock: what is there, what is missing, and what should not be there, like a sold piece whose label still answers from the case.
How fast is an RFID inventory?
Measured in store, on jewelry in display cases.
- pieces read every second
- 100/spieces read every second
- reading range
- 1.5mreading range
- to take out of the case
- 0pieceto take out of the case
What the reader reads through
- Closed display case
- Glass drawer
- Wooden drawer
- Jewelry box
- Open safe
- Closed safe
A closed safe is the only limit: metal stops radio waves. Open it while you pass the reader.
RFID, barcode or NFC: what is the difference?
Three ways of reading a label. Only one counts a display case without opening it.
| RFID | Barcode | NFC | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reading distance | Up to 1.5 m | Facing the label | A few centimetres |
| Pieces read at once | 100 per second | One | One |
| Label must be visible | No | Yes | No |
| Through a closed case | Yes | No | No |
Contactless payment on your bank card is NFC: the same family as RFID, but built to be read at a few centimetres, one card at a time. The RFID used here, called UHF, does the opposite: it reads far and many at once.
What the RFID module does
Gaps explained, not just counted
A piece not read, a sold piece whose label still answers from the case, an old label never destroyed, an unknown label: every gap comes with its cause.
The radar to find a piece
Type in the barcode of a piece you cannot find. The reader guides you to it, from “far” to “very close”.
The label follows the piece
Retired when the sale is paid, moved when stock is transferred between stores. Nobody has to scan anything again.
Your stock coverage
You see how many pieces already carry a label. A lost or torn-off label is replaced from the piece's record.
Your labels and nobody else's
Every label carries an identifier unique to your store. Two neighbouring stores never skew each other's inventory.
Nothing gets lost
If the network drops or the reader disconnects, the readings wait on the phone and go out as soon as they can.

Frequently asked questions about RFID inventory
Does RFID read through a closed display case?
- Yes. The reader reads through a closed display case, a glass or wooden drawer and a jewelry box, up to 1.5 m away. The one exception is a closed safe: metal stops radio waves, so open it while you pass the reader.
Do all pieces need a label?
- Every piece can carry a smart label, and that is what lets you count everything in a single pass. The app shows how many pieces are already labelled, so you can move at your own pace.
Isn't a barcode enough?
- A barcode is enough to keep an accurate stock. RFID changes the speed: a barcode reads one piece at a time, face to face, RFID reads 100 per second without taking anything out of the case.
What happens to the label when I sell a piece?
- It is retired automatically when the sale is paid. If that label still answers from the case during an inventory, the app flags it: the sold piece never left.
Can a neighbour with RFID skew my inventory?
- No. Every label carries an identifier unique to your store. The reader ignores another store's labels, even in the same shopping centre.
Do I need an iPhone or an Android phone?
- An Android phone running Android 10 or later. The app that drives the reader does not exist on iPhone.
Is RFID available on the Solo plan?
- No. The RFID module is an add-on to the Standard and Premium plans, at 290 DH/month, or 249 DH/month billed yearly.
How much does the hardware cost?
- The reader, the RFID label printer and the labels are on quote. You buy them once. The subscription only covers activating the module.
